Opinion - who are you looking forward to seeing in IPL?

I’m excited about IPL! Cant wait! One of the main reasons is the chance to see the best of the best fight it out. There are so many players i am looking forward to seeing, but 3 in particular come to mind, for varying reasons.

#1 - Andrew Symonds (Hyderabad): In my opinion he is the best ODI cricketer in the world. He would be the first man i would choose in my Twenty20 side. Not only is he an incredibly dangerous batsman who can win a match off his own bat (ave 56 @ strike rate of 170 in 20/20) but he is handy with the ball and is in my opinion the best fielder going around. Actually, i will go one step further and say he is the best fielder ever (in front of the wicket). Can you think of anyone better?

Oh, and ifs thats not enough, what about the fact that he is going to be public enemy no 1 for Indian fans. With the recent racial saga’s between Symonds and Harbhajan, i am sure there will be plenty of fans who want to get stuck into him.

This all makes for an intriguing showdown.

#2 - MS Dohni (Chennai): the more i see of him the more i like. I think he might be close to the best glovesman going around at the moment. And then of course there is his batting. The recent tests and ODI’s against Australia have shown that his power game is also tempered with sensible and patient stroke play. In short, i am a big fan. I really look forward to the shackles coming off and Dhoni cutting lose.

#3 - Daniel Vettori (Delhi): What can i say, i have a soft spot for spinners! I think Vettori may be the best Twenty20 bowler in the world. Big statement, and i would agree if you said that there just hasnt been enough Twenty20 matches played for that conclusion. Maybe - but everytime i see him he is impressive. It will be interesting to see how he handles the best batsman on their territory. Go on Daniel, fly the flag for spinners everywhere!

Of course, this is just the tip of the iceberg. There are many more players and questions to be answered. And in the following weeks, i will discuss much more. But for now, these are the ones i am excited about.

Which players are you looking forward to seeing?
